SERVICES PROVIDED
Orofacial Myofunctional therapy works to correct any maladaptive behaviors affecting chewing, swallowing, and breathing caused by weaknesses and/or imbalances of the orofacial muscles. Its goals are: nasal breathing, accurate tongue resting posture, efficient swallowing function and efficient speech.
Speech Therapy is the broad term for therapy treating disorders in fluency, speech production, language, voice, resonance, feeding/swallowing, cognition, and auditory rehabilitation/habilitation.
Feeding Therapy helps children learn how to eat or how to eat better.
You may need services if you or a loved one experiences:
New Leaf is trained to treat a variety of symptoms; from newborns to the elderly.
Feeding/swallowing symptoms: colic, constipation, reflux, messy eater, picky eater, bottle refusal, difficulty transitioning to cup and/or solid foods
Speech symptoms: stuttering, speech sound errors, "mumbled" speech, speech not improving despite prior interventions, speech sound omissions
Language symptoms: 0 words at 12 months of age, fewer than 20 words at 18 months of age, fewer than 50 words at 2 years old
Breastfeeding symptoms: poor weight gain, shallow latch, pain with nursing, Messy eater, picky eater, mouth breathing, snoring, drooling, pacifier
Oral habits: pacifier past one year old, thumb sucking, fingernail biting/chewing
Adult symptoms: mouth breathing, snoring, reflux, history of or current poor oral health, orthodontic relapse, oral habits (nail biting, cheek chewing, lip biting), frequent colds, allergies
